Matt was first introduced to CrossFit in 2009 as a way to training for his then upcoming Rugby season. After he finished his university career and retired from Rugby, he continued with CrossFit. From there he was introduced to a number of new activities and sports such as gymnastics, parkour, rowing, running, and Olympic lifting. 

Matt started officially coaching in 2013. At that time he had been doing CrossFit for a while already and realized that he genuinely enjoyed helping people get the hang of the same movements that he had once struggled with. That is when he decided to complete his level 1 CrossFit certification to formalize his teaching.
