Raincity Fit Club is dedicated to creating a truly inclusive fitness community. Raincity Athletics and Coach Thor provide an inclusive fitness program designed specifically for special needs children. Inclusive fitness activities are based on proven applied behavior analysis methods and are aimed at improving health and increasing confidence.

Raincity Athletics prides itself on bringing fitness to individuals at any level, and Raincity Fit Club is an extension of this belief. Raincity Athletics provides a fully equipped workout facility to meet the needs of its members.

The core value of Raincity Fit Club is community. Our inclusive fitness program serves youth ages 8-18 and we limit our group sizes to ensure that the participants have the support they need, while also benefiting both socially and emotionally from connection with other members.

If you are interested in our inclusive fitness program, the first step is to schedule a call with head coach Simon (aka Thor) to discuss your family and child’s needs. Then we’ll schedule a 30 minute free trial session for you and your child to come in and meet the coach as well as play with some of our toys. If that all goes well and both sides feel we are a match, then we can begin to schedule in ongoign sessions for your child.

Though our goal has and is always to for group training sessions, working with kids of differnet phyiscal and cognative abilities can be very difficult in a large group setting. We typically begin with 1 on 1 training with a coach until we have a full comprehension of your childs abilities, and then we aim to pair them up with training partners and combine their sessions to allow longer (or more frequent) sessions, for the same price.

Simon Damborg is also an approved Behaviour Interventionist for kids with an ASD diagnosis. If you’re interested in utilizing your funding for your childs training, make sure to mention that during your initial consultation.

Simon Damborg aka Coach thor

Simon is the head coach and owner of Raincity Athletics, home base for the Raincity Fit Club. He’s always been passionate about working with kids, which is why he loves that he’s able to bring Fit Club & true inclusion into his gym.

After years of working alongside Chelsea McFadzen, he has gotten his own approval from the BC Government as a registered Behavior Interventionist, thanks to the years of incredible progress and results they saw with the dozens of kids they’ve worked with.

Simon is also diagnosed and medicated for ADHD which really helps him excel at understanding and working with neurodivergent youth.

Chelsea McFadzen, MA

UPDATE: Chelsea no longer works directly out of Raincity Athletics as they have their own physical locations operating out of Aldergrove, Chilliwack, and Mission. If you are in those areas we recommend you contacting them directly!

Chelsea is the founder and owner of Skills to Play! She has been working in inclusive education for over 15 years and holds a Masters of Arts in Educational Psychology from Simon Fraser University and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Alberta. Chelsea found her passion for play based intervention through her experience working as a behaviour interventionist, Educational Assistant, tutor and an inclusion support worker.

Over the span of a decade she has dedicated herself to working with children and their families. She has supported hundreds of children in their homes, schools and community programs. Chelsea is passionate about connecting her practice with the ever evolving field of educational research. She has produced her own independent research as well as co-authored peer reviewed published articles in the field of education. Her research has focused specifically on working with people who present with Pathological Demand Avoidance Profiles, A-typical presentations of Autism Spectrum Disorders and those with dual and multi-diagnosis.

Mostly Chelsea loves to connect and play with the kids she works with and she founded Skills to Play for that very reason. She's excited to share her fun loving and refreshing style of intervention with you. When she's not teaching through play you can find Chelsea spending time with her beloved dogs or getting her work out on at the gym!
